Abstract

Global Information Hub on Integrated Medicine, GlobinMed, is a project of vast undertaking that upholds the vision of promoting and enhancing the practice of traditional and complementary medicine towards the establishment of Integrated Medicine together with Allopathic Medicine, through global communication and education with the availability of valid, up-to-date and comprehensive information. It is a web portal that compiles information on many aspects of traditional and complementary medicine which encompasses Medicinal Products, Research, Safety, Conservation, Training & Education, Policy, Intellectual Property Rights, Traditional and Complementary Medicine Modalities, and Trade. The idea was conceived during the 12th Commonwealth Health Minister’s meeting in Barbados, 1998 upon agreement that the scattered information on traditional and complementary medicine should be compiled, evaluated and centralized for easy access. Malaysia spearheaded the initiative based on strong commitment of its government and the availability of the Multimedia Super Corridor. The foundation has been developed and is currently ready to unfold into greater heights. The support and strategic win-win partnership with local and international government as well as other bodies will further enhance this mega mission. It is a new holistic approach in healthcare, through Malaysia for the world.
