Abstract

Asia-Pacific region is characteristic of production and application of traditional medicine and herbal medicine, Asia-Pacific countries have great enthusiasms to revitalize the field of traditional and herbal medicine. Development of information technology and wide application of Internet provides new opportunities and prosperous support for rapid and effective approach to promote information dissemination as well as collaboration on R&D and industry of traditional medicine among Asia-Pacific countries. Under the sponsorship and support of Asia-Pacific Center of Technology Transfer, Asia-Pacific Traditional Medicine and Herbal Technology Network (APTMNET) was proposed to be established as an information portal to promote academic/industrial communication and collaboration on traditional medicine among all 14 member countries. APTMNET has functioned well as both a virtual and solid platform, various exchange and promotion activities have been organized at different levels, they have greatly strengthened further mutual understanding and brought forward more potential opportunities.
