Abstract

A bisbenzylisoquinoline, O,O-dimethylgrisabine was isolated from the alkaloid extract of the roots of A. perakensis. The structure of the compound was elucidated and identified by means of spectroscopic evidence such as NMR 1D & 2D, UV, IR, FAB-MS and comparison with literature data.  Lauraceae was reported to be rich with alkaloids including aporphine and benzylisoquinoline, but this is the first report of the presence of bisbenzylisoquinoline from this genus.
