Abstract

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has been used for several thousand years, playing an important role in the treatment and prevention of diseases, including cancer. In the recent two decades, a number of traditional Chinese medicinal herbs have aroused extreme interest in the world using TCM as biological response modifiers (BRMs). The present review reports both the experimental and clinical results obtained in this field, especially conducted by our group, also describes the possible mechanisms and the activity of the purified components from several herbs.
