How Beta-Carotene interacts with Bile acid sequestrants

Cholestyramine resin reportedly inhibits the absorption of fat-soluble nutrients including vitamin A and beta-carotene. Colestipol, at a dose of 30 gm/day, has been reported to cause a 30% lowering of serum total carotenoid levels. Supplementation with the affected nutrient(s) may be necessary. (1) (2)
