Neomycin may cause structural and functional changes in the gastrointestinal mucosa, which may result in an impaired absorption and increased excretion of numerous nutrients, including fat-soluble nutrients such as beta-carotene. Supplementation with the affected nutrient(s) may be necessary. (1)
