How Chitosan interacts with Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA)

Interaction type: Interactions

Interaction rating: Potential/Theoritical

Chitosan is a nutraceutical product that binds to fats in the gastrointestinal tract, thereby reducing the absorption of ingested dietary fats. Thus, it is likely that chitosan could bind to EPA and prevent its absorption. It is recommended not to dose these concomitantly. Supplementation with the affected nutrient may be necessary. (1)
