Precautions

Exercise caution when administering to patients of spleen-yang deficiency.

Pharmacology

Effects on experimental cataract

Experiments show that administering eye drops made from Zhen Zhu Mu powder to three-year-old rats of cataract can very significantly delay the forming of cataract. (2)

Counteracting ulcer

Administering Zhen Zhu Mu solution to rats of acetic acid-induced gastric ulcer can significantly promote the recovery of the ulcer-affected surface; in pylorically ligated rates, the same treatment can significantly decrease gastric juice output, and decrease total acid output. (3)

Tranquilization

Administered at large dosages, Zhen Zhu Mu has a tranqilizaing effect. (4) , (5)

Anti-aging effect

Zhen Zhu Mu extract can clear away activated oxygen and enhance the activity of anti-activated oxygen enzyme in the human body, thus delaying the aging process. (6)
