Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to create awareness about the many important functions of the spine, its relationship to the nervous system and to show how maintenance of good spinal health, alignment and function can improve an individual’s overall health and lifestyle and help to prevent degenerative conditions such as spondylosis and intervertebral disc prolapse. To demonstrate how spinal misalignments are associated with common conditions, signs and symptoms experienced by the general population of all ages; from infancy to childhood through to adulthood and old age. Also, to point out the benefits of prevention and early detection of spinal problems as well as outline options available to improve, correct and maintain spinal health through chiropractic care, a change in posture and lifestyle habits.
