Abstract

Pteridophytes are one of the most amazing components of plant wealth of Malaysia and neighbouring countries. Yet there has been a lack of published material on pteridophytes easily accessible to non-specialists outlining their botany, fascinating development of form and also providing an overview of their uses, chemistry and studies conducted. This study is focused on the evaluation of the radical scavenging capacity of extracts of selected species of Pteridophytes. The radical scavenging activity was determined spectrophotometrically using 1,1-diphenilpicylhydrazyl free radical scavenging assay (DPPH). The results are reported here.
