Abstract

In the present study, a derivative of apigenin nameIy, 4’-ethoxy-5,7-dimethoxyflavone, has been synthesized from phIoroacetophenone via Its chalcone precursor followed by the treatment of Iodine in dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO). Structures of the synthesized compounds were elucidated by infrared (lR), uItravioIet (U), mass spectrometry (MS) and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (H NMR) spectroscopic methods. The anti-MRSA activity of 4’ethoxy-5.7-dimethoxyflavone and its corresponding chalcone were performed in vitro using the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) value determination assay and efflux assay.
