Abstract

Sabah has supplied an incredible array of potential medicinal plants which are well-known as sources for natural remedies. This study investigated the anti-candida activity of four edible gingers; Etlingera coccinea (Blume) S. Saki & Nagam. (tuhau), Curcuma longa L. (turmeric). Languas galariga (L.) Stuntz (greater galanga) and Zingeber officinale Roscoe (ginger). The experiment used hexane and methanol extracts of the respective gingers by using a standard disc-diffusion method. The results obtained from this study provided an important basis for further chemical and pharmacological research.
