Abstract

At present, harvesting of stevia is using the manual operation. This paper reviews the design concept of the small scale stevia harvester. Currently, the production of stevia is carried out in a small scale on less than one hectare of land and all operation is done manually. The rate of production is not stable because it requires high labour and good weather condition. With mechanization, the production of stevia can be increased to a consistent rate where harvesting and drying can be done everyday. Therefore, the three point link stevia harvester for small holding is developed to increase the stevia production in Malaysia. The three point link stevia harvester is more suitable than using the small tractor. The main components of the machine include cutting blade, air blow duct and collecting bag.
