These medications and intravenous arginine infusions both can cause hyperkalemia. Intravenous arginine infusions can only be performed by licensed healthcare professionals and are used to test for growth hormone deficiency and for the treatment of metabolic alkalosis. Arginine infusions should be used with caution in individuals who are on these medications. (1)
These drugs include amiloride, triamterene, spironolactone
