To replenish qi, to consolidate superficial resistance, and to expel pathogenic wind to promote the restoration of consciousness. It is mainly used to treat nasal obstruction, rhinorrhea, headache, fever and other symptoms of allergic rhinitis and the common cold.
Dosage Info
The formula, in concentrated, low-sugar granules, is taken orally after a meal, 3 times a day, 5g each time, for 20 days as one unit of treatment. It is infused with boiling water and taken as a beverage. 5:1 concentrated extract: 9 grams/day.

General: No poisoning involving this formula has been reported. According to the literature, the formula has no lethargy-related side effects.
Side Effects: Individual patients who experience mild stomach discomfort can continue to take the formula after proper treatment has been sought.
Pharmacology
The formula’s main functions are inhibiting allergic reaction and counteracting histamine. (1)
Inhibiting allergic reaction: The formula has a strong inhibitory effect on both passive and active cutaneous anaphylactic reactions. It also has a significant suppressive effect on several specific aspects of allergic reactions, such as granules coming off mastocytes. Furthermore, it inhibits the direct actions of allergic media on effector organs.
Antihistamine effects: The formula has a significant inhibitory effect on histamine-induced contraction of the isolated guinea pig ileum.
Clinical Applications
The formula is used to treat allergic rhinitis, chronic paranasal sinusitis, and the common cold.
Allergic rhinintis
Zhao used a semi-conductor laser therapeutic apparatus in combination with this formula to treat 40 cases of allergic rhinitis and reported a total effective rate of 97.5%. (2) Li treated 32 cases of allergic rhinitis with this formula and achieved satisfactory results. (3) To study the effect of this formula on allergic rhinitis using a larger sample, eight hospitals in Shanghai, China, treated 367 cases of allergic rhinitis with this formula, and reported a total effective rate of 80.1%.
