3.6.14.2 Analysis
Tumeric is exported as raw material or in powder form (capsule). The quantity traded was relatively large and its supply depended on demand. During the period between year 2000 and 2007, the export amounts differed from year to year with maximum value at 152,952 kg and the lowest at about 28,987 kg. The revenues from the export stretched from RM152,293 to RM513,499. The value profile was irregular, similar to that of the quantities for export. The cost per kg of product remained low exhibiting undulating trend. It ranged from RM2.16 per kg to RM5.25 kg of product.
Except for the year 2003, the differences between unit costs of export and import values showed positive differences indicating that profits could have been made from the export business.
