3.6.16.2 Analysis
Other spices refer to a number of herbal components such as black peppercorns, cinnamon, paprika and vanilla varieties. The trade in other spices involved high volumes from about 326,386 kg to about 1.519 million kg of product during the observed period. The quantities traded increased in the initial period up to year 2005,. after which the quantities decreased resulting in a single peak profile. The revenues obtained from the export followed the same pattern as that of quantities exported. The values thus obtained indicated very high returns to the industry. The cost per kg of product exhibited an increasing profile although the values differed slightly from year to year.
The differences of the costs per kg of product between export and import values showed positive figures, indicating that the export trade had brought reasonable profits to the industry.
