Description

Beilschmiedia tonkinensis is a small tree can grow measuring up to 15 m tall while its bole is measures up to 40 cm in diametre.

The leaves are arranged alternate to opposite, elliptical to oblong, measuring 7-18 cm x 3-6 cm, wedge-shaped base, obtuse apex and hairless. The midrib is raised above while the tertiary venation distinct on both sides. The petiole is measuring 1-2.5 cm long.

The flowers are hairy.

The fruit is oblong and it’s measures about 2.5 cm x 1.5 cm.

Ecology / Cultivation

B. tonkinensis is a coastal species occasionally found inland.
