Zingiber; Z.ottensii; Z.spectabile; Z. cassumunar; Z. zerumbet; Zingiberaceae; sesquiterpenes; labdane diterpene; methoxyphenylbutanoids.

Zingiber is among the few genera of the ginger family (Zingiberaceae) which have many species being used as medicines. Studies on some of these species led us to the isolation of several compounds, including sesquiterpenes, humulene, zerumbone, humulene epoxide, zerumbone epoxide, diterpene labd-8(17), 12-dien-15, 16-dial, and phenylbutanoids compounds, 4-(3',4'-dimethoxyphenyl) but-3-en-l-ol,4-(3',4'-demethoxyphenyl)but-3-en-l-yl acetate, and l-(3',4',6'-trimethoxyphenyl)but-l,3-diene. Isolation and structural elucidation of some of these compounds will be discussed.
