Abstract
Alkaloids from Uncaria species cf. gambir were studied in anaesthetised normotensive rats for effects on the cardiovascular system. Two purified alkaloids, isorhynchophylline and ryhnchophylline, were observed to produce a good fall in the systemic arterial pressure which was accompanied by marked and sustained bradycardia.
