An animal study reported that valerian may increase the sedative effect of some of these medications, which may alter the effects of these medications and possibly the dose needed for treatment. Use with caution. (1) These drugs include phenobarbital, pentobarbital, mephobarbital, amobarbital, secobarbital, butabarbital, thiopental, methohexital.
