3.6.33.2 Analysis
Essential oils of peppermint have medicinal properties and are widely traded. The export quantities for this product for the observed period were irregular.and the amounts for years 2000, 2002, 2004, 2005 and 2006 were not available. The amounts traded were relatively low, and from the available data, reflected that the product are widely used locally. The revenues obtained did not follow the same pattern as that of the quantities exported. The maximum value for the period was at RM20,775 and the minimum was at RM7,250. The costs per kg of product ranged from RM11.44 to RM75.
Except for the year 2007, differences in unit costs of the products between export and import figures indicated negative values. Imported essential oils of peppermint were assumed to be mostly utilized within the country.
