Abstract

In the present health scenario there is an ever-demanding need for wellness, due to various reasons like: increasing stress and tension, emerging newer diseases and problems, occupation related hazards/disorders, lowered immune mechanism, less emphasis towards preventive and promotive health, increasing number of iatrogenic diseases and disorders etc. Naturopathy and Yoga is a system of medicine as well as way of life, which focuses mainly on disease preventive and health promotive aspects. It is a potent tool to the present day ills. The philosophy is based on unity of disease and unity of cure .The treatment modalities initiate and activate the self-healing potentials of the body. It is holistic, comprehensive and cost-effective in approach, which brings wellness at individual level and social level. Naturopathy modalities like hydrotherapy, natural dietetics and nutrition, mud, helio, and chromo therapies along with magnetotherapy, acupressure and acupuncture are the potent tools to combat the psychosomatic and occupational related disorders very ef¿ ciently. They bring rejuvenation and regeneration to body and mind. Yoga therapy brings swasthya (health) not only at the individuals physical and mental levels but also health at social level, which is utmost essential for the wellness of individual and his/her, surroundings, a health in its true sense.
