Abstract

The paper will study how data of Unani medicine on therapeutic of plants were transferred to the Islamic world. In the first part, the paper will contextualize the transfer of knowledge from Unani to Islamic medicine. Then, it will focus on some cases that illustrate the methods, problems and results of such transfer. The paper will be based on the reading of ancient works in the original language (Greek and Arabic).The comparison will show how Islamic physicians adapted Unani medicine to their specific natural and epidemiological environment. In so doing, it will stress both the continuity and the difference of Unani and Islamic medicine, highlighting the specific contribution of Islamic physicians.
