Abstract

Based on chemistry of isoquinoline alkaloid in Japan, novel drugs, trimetoquinol and denopamine, have teen developed. Trimetoquinol, ß2 agonist, was derived from tetrahydropapaveroline. A ß1 selective agonist was unexpectedly found in ring fissioned derivatives of trimetoquinol. Denopamine was chosen as a positive inotropic  agent with highly selective ß1, agonist property.
