Abstract

To produce simple tablets from herbal traditional medicines is not an easy task as compared to that of modern medicines. We experienced some difficulties during our initial attempts on herbal remedies supplied by two local companies using starch mucilage or PVP-K90 solution in water as binder. Result of further studies on one of the samples showed that methylcellulose 1500 cp in water and PVP in alcohol may be used as binder. The binding properties however depend on the concentration of the binding solution and the sequence of mixing.
