How Chitosan interacts with Fat soluble vitamins

Interaction type: Interactions

Interaction rating: Study Supported

Since chitosan inhibits the absorption of fats, it is likely that it will inhibit the absorption of fat-soluble nutrients such as vitamins A, D, E, K and beta-carotene. An animal study showed reduced levels of vitamin E in the blood when taken with chitosan for long periods of time. Supplementation with the affected nutrients may be necessary. (1)

These drugs include vitamin A, vitamin D, vitamin E, vitamin K, beta-carotene
